TERMS

Terms of Use

1. Agreement

By downloading or using Mäuse, you agree to these terms and the applicable Apple standard end-user license agreement. If you do not agree, do not use the app. Mandatory consumer rights in your country remain unaffected.

2. What Mäuse does

Mäuse helps you record expenses, calculate a partner’s share, review monthly totals, create and restore JSON backups, and optionally draft expenses from spoken input. Mäuse is an organizational tool, not a banking, payment, accounting, tax, credit, investment, or financial-advice service.

3. Your data and backups

You are responsible for the accuracy of the information you enter and for keeping backups you may need. Local app data can be lost if you delete the app, erase or lose the device, install unstable software, or import a backup that replaces existing records. Support cannot recover data that was stored only on your device.

4. Optional Voice Mode

Voice Mode is optional and requires your explicit consent, microphone permission, internet access, and a compatible OpenAI API key. Speech recognition and generated expense drafts may be incomplete or wrong. Review every draft before saving it.

Do not speak another person’s confidential, sensitive, or personal information without permission. Do not use Voice Mode for unlawful, harmful, or abusive purposes.

5. Your OpenAI account and charges

You supply and control the OpenAI API key used by Voice Mode. Your use of OpenAI is also governed by the terms, policies, pricing, quotas, and availability that apply to your OpenAI account. OpenAI may charge your project directly. Mäuse does not sell OpenAI credits, does not receive a share of those charges, and cannot issue refunds for them.

You are responsible for securing, rotating, limiting, and revoking your API key. Never share it with support. If you believe it has been exposed, revoke it in the OpenAI Platform and remove it from Mäuse.

6. Availability and changes

Manual expense tracking is designed to work offline. Voice Mode depends on Apple device capabilities, network access, and OpenAI services that may change, become unavailable, or require different models, permissions, or pricing. Features may be updated or discontinued when reasonably necessary.

7. Acceptable use

You may use Mäuse for lawful personal purposes. You may not misuse the app or connected services, interfere with their operation, attempt unauthorized access, distribute malicious modifications, or violate Apple’s or OpenAI’s applicable rules.

8. Source code and intellectual property

The source code is publicly viewable on GitHub for transparency. Public visibility does not itself grant a license. Unless a file or repository license expressly says otherwise, all rights remain reserved. “Mäuse,” its visual identity, artwork, and website content may not be used in a way that suggests endorsement or an official relationship.

9. No warranty

To the extent allowed by law, Mäuse is provided without guarantees that it will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or suitable for a particular purpose. Nothing in these terms limits warranties or remedies that cannot legally be excluded.

10. Liability

Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law, including liability for intent, gross negligence, injury to life, body, or health, or mandatory product liability. Otherwise, liability is limited to foreseeable damage caused by a breach of an essential contractual obligation.

11. Privacy

The Mäuse Privacy Policy explains local storage, Voice Mode data sharing, website analytics, retention, and your choices.

12. Changes to these terms

These terms may be updated when the app, connected services, or legal requirements change. The effective date above identifies the current version.

13. Governing law

German law applies to the extent permitted. If you are a consumer, mandatory protections and available courts in your country remain unaffected.
